Dental and periodontal disease causes chronic inflammation and infection in the mouth that can spread to ALL parts of the body. For grade 1 or 2 dental disease, (AND an animal constitution that allows their mouth to be safely accessible) we offer anesthesia free holistic dentistry. This is above and beyond the traditional anesthesia free dentistry that offers dental scaling and polishing, comprehensive evaluation of the teeth with pocket probing, charting and finally a treatment plan.
Our dental packages are expanded to include natural anti-inflammatory oral irrigation, high potency prescription strength homeopathic remedies for anxiety, anti-inflammation and pain control, PEMF treatment for joint comfort and gentle swaddling techniques during treatment. Finally an upper cervical chiropractic adjustment is done post procedure to help the animal assimilate the changes as well as reset the body after so much handling on the head and jaw. Most importantly, we offer ozone gas treatments as well as topical ozonated oils for the most effective treatment of infection in the mouth. Horses
Horses Greatly Benefit from Biologic Dentistry.
It is so much more than simply removing points of the teeth. In humans the alignment or balance of the jaw hugely impacts the TMJ joint and balance and proprioception, not to mention when things are awry: headaches, pain, sleep disorders and neurologic impairment can be debilitating.
Chronic inflammation and infection in the teeth have been shown to be the key to difficult to solve chronic health problems in people. In the horse, this is 1000x more pertinent simply because of the size of the horses' head. The weight of the head of a horse, coupled with the 4 legged stance in relationship to gravity makes a balanced jaw essential for performance. This is where repeated chiropractic adjustments, massage and acupuncture are not solving the problem, just chasing symptoms.

Importance of Home Oral Care Maintenance
Just as with us humans, dogs and cats benefit tremendously from good oral health. The holistic premise of care for oral care is to do something every 24 hours to disrupt the micro biome in the mouth to keep plaque from accumulating and then running away into tartar and gum infections. We use a multi prong approach and option and this is more practical with dogs but some cats will also let you use some of these techniques and products.
The first and most popular way to disrupt the micro biome in the mouth is with mechanical brushing. We like vetzlife gel or leba 2 as powerful shortcuts because the enzymatic power of both of these products allows for a short application time and less mechanical scrubbing of each area in the mouth. As long as you are getting the product on the teeth in one area, it will work with the saliva. This is best done in the morning.
Healthy mouth gel is a fantastic product that is the only one with extensive clinical testing in both dogs and horses. This application is best done at night. And of course the food and/or water additive product is awesome as well. Finally, diluted clove oil, ozonated oils and restore are all additional options for great oral care. Using a water pic is a good option on some dogs. You must be very careful of the setting and it is more important when there is gum infection or root exposure and anesthesia is not an option.
